binary vector system

A two plasmid system in Agrobacterium tumefaciens designed to transfer T-DNA into plant cells, while avoiding the formation of crown gall tumours. One plasmid contains the virulence gene (responsible for transfer of the T-DNA), and the other the T-DNA borders, the selectable marker and the DNA to be transferred.
